Ceramics is anything made from clay. It might be decorative, it might be functional, it might be fine art. There are generally three types of ceramics. Earthenware, Mid-fire, or Stoneware. And that just relates to the temperature that they're fired to.

 

In schools (we recommend mid-fire as that's around 1200 degrees. It gives you a really strong, robust product that can be functional, but without the added time and expense of going to higher temperature and firing to stoneware.)
